IP Telephony or ISDN?

What is IP Telephony? IP Telephony is making use of an Internet Connection to provide advanced telephony features - , such as voicemail, call forwarding, auto-attendant - and to make and receive calls over the same connection (sometimes called VOIP). The technology to do this has been around for many years, however, it is only recently that this technology has become a reality with the advent of increased internet connection speeds: ADSL Max, SDSL and LLU (see Business Broadband).

What are the benefits? IP Telephony can be just the ability to make and receive calls over your Business Broadband connection. It can also be the last telephone system you will ever need! Why? Because it is software based and works very much like a programme on your PC - in fact, it will even communicate with programmes such as Microsoft Outlook as an example.
